A Family Love of Food

For Brittany and Steve, fresh produce reminds them of growing up on Florida farms.  Brittany spent her childhood rustling through the pecan groves of Madison County, while Steve mended fences and mowed rows on his family's blueberry farm in Live Oak.

Almost as soon as they were married they planted their first garden, bringing in a yield of tomatoes, green beans, and crookneck squash.  It wasn't long before they were giving much of it away.

In years to follow they tried everything from hot peppers to soybeans to zucchini to cantaloupe and eggplant and Romaine lettuce, and of course continued with the mainstays of tomatoes and green beans.  There was success, with two harvests in one long summer, and failures, like spending months on rock gardens constructed from broken-up driveway only to see one of the wettest seasons on record drown the plants.

They began to talk about how nice it would be to have a service deliver high-quality, local produce to their door - the kind of produce you just can't get at the grocery store.  And when they realized how rare such services are in the Saint Augustine area, they asked themselves a simple question: why not just start one?

Using connections with local farmers markets as well as farmers themselves, they can buy in bulk and at discounted prices so that everyone wins: Steve and Brittany get to work with the food they love, local farmers are supported by local customers, and you get to have fresh, local, and healthy fruits and veggies for less than what it costs to buy food trucked in from out of state.

Our hope is to not only provide you with high-quality produce, but to also help educate you on the weird and delicious world of fresh fruits and veggies and making them a primary part of your daily diet.  You may hate zucchini, but you may also be a closet pattypan squash lover...and simply have no idea!  You may run when someone serves fresh kale, but not know how great they taste when baked with oil and salt into crunchy, flavorful crisps.  You may turn your nose up at carrots and dip, but it's because you've never tried a carrot pulled fresh from the ground.

We'd like to be a resource not only for fresh produce delivered to your door, but also for recipes, information, and ideas for adding the bounty of Florida's soil to your life.  Come and take the plunge with us!
